Day 1. Istanbul

Arrival day. Meet your guide and travelling companions in the evening at the hotel.

Day 2. Istanbul (B)

Fully guided tour of Istanbul awaits us, encompassing the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia, Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace and the Underground Cistern.

Day 3. Istanbul > Gallipoli (B & L)

We depart for the World War 1 peninsula of Gallipoli this morning quite early. This afternoon sees us exploring places such as Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair memorials, Johnston's Jolly, The Nek and ANZAC Cove allon our guided tour of this now serene site. In the evening we get a chance to watch the 'Gallipoli' movie and 4-Corners documentary, 'Fatal Shore'.

Day 4. Gallipoli > Troy > Bergama > Sel�uk (B & D)

Another early start sees us checking out some of the best preserved ruins in Turkey. We head south along the Aegean coast for the famed ruins of Troy and the Trojan horse. Afterwards we stop in Bergama for lunch and see the steepest amphitheatre in the world in the ruins of Pergamum. This site is also the home of modern medicine. This afternoon we rest in the small farming village of Selcuk.

Day 5. Sel�uk (B & D)

Today is another day of inspecting ruins, but this time we visit one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World at the ruins of Ephesus, and also host to the very first advertisement the world had ever seen. After lunch we visit the Virgin Mary's House and cave of the seven sleepers.

Day 6. Sel�uk > Pamukkale > Koycegiz (B)

We head East to the calcium terraves of Pamukkale and the ruins of Hieropolis today. We may even have a chance for a dip in the 'Sacred Pool'. From here we drive through the mountains to the tiny village of Koycegiz, a highlight for the ISTANBUL SHE TOURS crew.

Day 7. Koycegiz (B & L & D)

Today we board Sahin's boat for a day trip on Lake Koycegiz and out to Turtle Beach where the Mediterranean meets the Aegean. We have numerous opportunities to swim in the Lake on our return, head for the famed mud baths where we cover ourselves in clay and take some memorable snapshots

Day 8. Koycegiz > Saklikent Gorge > Fethiye (B)

We depart after breakfast and make our way to the fantastic Saklikent Gorge, a huge natural crack in the mountain. Trekking up this gorge is easier said then done but we will take the challenge anyway! Don't forget your bathers! Afterwards we drive to our night stop and catch our first glimpse of the Mediterranean.

Day 9. Oludeniz (B)

There are several options available to you today. Maybe you would like to try para-gliding from 2000 metres, sailing on a Gulet (Turkish sailing boat), Scuba diving in the Med., white water rafting on the Dalaman river, or just relax on Europe's most beautiful beach of 1995.

Day 10. Oludeniz > Kas > Olympos (B)

A magnificent coastal drive along the Turquoise Coast to the fishing village of Kas for lunch and then we have an option of swimming at one of the many natural coves. We arrive at the ancient village of Olympos late afternoon and stand in awe at our accommodation site which resembles an Ewok village from Star Wars. Tonight we have the option of checking out the eternal flames of Chimaera.

Day 11. Olympos (B & D)

Today is yours to do as you please. Maybe you would like to jump aboard a fishing boat, trek through the ancient ruins, climb Mt. Olympos, rest on the beach, or just sit in your treehouse and catch up on some post cards.

Day 12. Olympos > Konya > Cappadocia (B & D)

An early start today sees us head north east for the surreal landscape of Cappadocia. We stop at Konya for lunch, Turkey's religious capital, and also see the biggest Caravansaray on the Anatolian plane. Cappadocia in the afternoon and marvel at this incredible landscape.

Day 13. Cappadocia (B)

Today we partake in a fully guided tour of the Cappadocia region, checking out open air museums, underground cities and pottery displays. Tonight we have the option of going to a Traditional Turkish Folklore night, including belly-dancers and traditional folklore dancers...... not to be missed!

Day 14. Cappadocia > Ankara > Istanbul (overnight) (B)

Don't forget your hiking boots today, as we head for Ilhara Valley. A beautiful trek through the natural gorge as we observe ancient churches from one of the oldest civilisations ever to have roamed the world. We then head for the nations capital Ankara where we see the Ancient Civilisations Museum and Ataturk's Mausoleum. From here we board the trian back to Istanbul overnight.

Day 15. Istanbul (B)

Our tour finishes after our on-board breakfast, so the afternoon is yours to do as you please. Maybe you'd like to take a boat trip up the Bosphorous or hang out at one of the Prince's Islands. No accommodation is included on this day.

Day 1. Istanbul

Welcome to Istanbul, one of the oldest capitals in the world and the only capital that spans two continents. Make your way to the Sultan Hostel and meet your courier this evening.

Day 2. Istanbul > Ankara (Overnight Train) [B]

This morning you embark on a guided tour through some of the most historic and fascinating sights including the Blue mosque, Aya Sophia, Topkapi Place and more. You have the afternoon to yourself and may want to indulge in a bit of bartering in the Grand Bazaar, the oldest covered bazaar in the world. This evening you transfer by an overnight train to Ankara, Turkey's capital city.

Day 3. G�reme (Cappadocia) [B & D]

After an on board breakfast we disembark to visit the un-missable Anatolian Museum, a showcase of artefacts depicting the Ancient Civilisations that once roamed this great land. This afternoon we head off across the plains of Anatolia to the Cappadocia region, and our first glimpse of the surreal G�reme Valley.

Day 4. G�reme (Cappadocia) [B]

Today we start to explore the famous Cappadocia region, with its fairy chimney structures and spectacular volcanic scenery. This evening you have the chance to experience a Turkish bath and then take in a traditional folklore show.

Day 5. G�reme (Cappadocia) [B]

Venturing out of central Cappadocia, today we explore the tranquil beauty of the Ihlara valley and wonder at the Christian frescos hidden away in caves of tufa. We travel on from our secret valley to ascend down the levels of a Hittite underground city, here we can only marvel at the ingenuity of this ancient civilisation.

Day 6. Egirdir [B & D]

With a final farewell to G�reme and the Cappadocia region, we head west towards Konya and visit the mystical Mevlana Museum and maybe even sample the local speciality cuisine. Tea break at Caravanserai. Tonight we lay our heads to rest in the tranquil township of Egirdir and watch the sunset over the 4th largest lake in Turkey.

Day 7. Pamukkale > Kusadasi / Sel�uk [B]

Possibly a chance to stretch your legs and explore lush countryside and wander the Silk Road o folden Prussia, before we hit the road again to visit one of the natural wonders of this region Pamukkale (Cotton Castles). These calcified terraces have formed over thousands of years and their mineral pools are said to aid all sorts of medical aliments. After visiting we drive onto Kusadasi / Sel�uk.

Day 8. Kusadasi / Sel�uk [B]

We head out today to visit the most impressive archaeological site in Turkey. A fully guided tour of Ephesus brings the site alive. You'll marvel at the massive structures and technology that existed in times gone by.

Day 9. Bergama - Gallipoli [B]

Going northward along the Aegean coast we come to the ruins of the acropolis of Pergamum before reaching our night stop in �anakkale, on the coastal edge of the infamous Dardanelles.

Day 10. �anakkale > Istanbul [B & L]

We start the day with a ferry crossing to Eceabat, gateway to the ANZAC memorials. Our guide will lead you to ANZAC beach and cove, reveal stories of battle woes and heroes, and bring alive the story of the famous Gallipoli movie about the Australian light-horse infantry. Then onto Istanbul.

Day 11. Istanbul (No Accommodation) [B]

Tour finishes after breakfast. For those who have time before they leave Turkey, the delights of the Grand Bazaar will soon endear themselves to you again, not to mention cruising up the Bosphorous strait or just kicking back and writing those final postcards.

This morning we head further east across the stunning Taurus mountains to Kahta near Mt. Nemrut. We rest early for a big day tomorrow.

Day 7. Kahta > Mt. Nemrut > Urfa [B + L + D]

We awake in the early hours to catch one of the most beautiful sunsets on the summit of Mt. Nemrut. The afternoon we drive south and visit the oldest university in the world and rest our weary bones in Urfa.

Day 8. Urfa > Van [B]

Today sees us head to one of the biggest cities in Anatolia, Van. We stop for lunch in Diyarbakir.

Day 9. Van [B + L]

We start the day with a boat trip on Lake Van and out to Akdamar Island. From here we visit the Holy Cross church and take a swim.

Day 10. Van > Istanbul [B]

Today we catch a flight from Van to Istanbul and transfer to our hotel.

Day 11. Istanbul [B]

Our tour finishes after our breakfast.

We depart after breakfast further east for our night stop overlooking the Iranian border at Dogubeyazit. We visit spectacular Muradiye waterfall and Ishak Pasa Palace also today.

Day 11. Dogubeyazit > Hopa [B]

An early start and we drive to the 10thC Armenian capital of Ani. From here we are literally only a stones throw away from the former Russian province of Georgia.. We catch our first glimpse of the Black Sea tonight.

Day 12. Hopa > Ayder [B]

Today we head west to the tea plantation of �amlihemsin. Here, we sample local teas before reaching our night stop on one of the numerous plateaus at Ayder.

Day 13. Ayder [B + L]

Don't forget to bring your hiking boots as we trek the Ka�kar Mountains at 2000mt above sea level. We stop for a B.B.Q. at one of the plateaux, and absorb breathtaking views.

Day 14. Ayder > Uzung�l [B + L + D]

This morning we drive along the scenic coastline for �eli, where the best dried beans and meatballs come from. We sample the local cuisine before reaching our night stop at Uzung�l.

Day 15. Uzung�l [B + L + D]

We don our hiking boots again for a trek to the Seven Lakes. We marvel at this majestic scenery before returning to Uzung�l.

Day 16. Uzung�l > Ma�ka [B]

We continue heading west for one of the biggest cities on the Black Sea, Trabzon. Here, we trek to the Sumela Monastery, built on a cliff face, and continue to our night stop at Ma�ka.

Day 17. Trabzon > Istanbul [B]

Today we catch a flight from Van to Istanbul and transfer to our hotel.

Day 18. Istanbul [B]

Our tour finishes after our breakfast.
