Day 1. Istanbul
Arrival day. Meet your
guide and travelling companions in the evening at the hotel.
Day 2. Istanbul (B)
Fully guided tour of
Istanbul awaits us, encompassing the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia,
Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace and the Underground Cistern.
Day 3. Istanbul > Gallipoli (B &
L)
We depart for the World War 1 peninsula of Gallipoli this
morning quite early. This afternoon sees us exploring places such as
Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair memorials, Johnston's Jolly, The Nek and
ANZAC Cove allon our guided tour of this now serene site. In the
evening we get a chance to watch the 'Gallipoli' movie and 4-Corners
documentary, 'Fatal Shore'.
Day 4. Gallipoli > Troy > Bergama >
Sel�uk (B & D)
Another early start sees us checking out
some of the best preserved ruins in Turkey. We head south along the
Aegean coast for the famed ruins of Troy and the Trojan horse.
Afterwards we stop in Bergama for lunch and see the steepest
amphitheatre in the world in the ruins of Pergamum. This site is
also the home of modern medicine. This afternoon we rest in the
small farming village of Selcuk.
Day 5. Sel�uk (B & D)
Today is another
day of inspecting ruins, but this time we visit one of the Seven
Wonders of the Ancient World at the ruins of Ephesus, and also host
to the very first advertisement the world had ever seen. After lunch
we visit the Virgin Mary's House and cave of the seven sleepers.
Day 6. Sel�uk > Pamukkale > Koycegiz
(B)
We head East to the calcium terraves of Pamukkale and the
ruins of Hieropolis today. We may even have a chance for a dip in
the 'Sacred Pool'. From here we drive through the mountains to the
tiny village of Koycegiz, a highlight for the
ISTANBUL SHE TOURS crew.
Day 7. Koycegiz (B & L & D)
Today
we board Sahin's boat for a day trip on Lake Koycegiz and out to
Turtle Beach where the Mediterranean meets the Aegean. We have
numerous opportunities to swim in the Lake on our return, head for
the famed mud baths where we cover ourselves in clay and take some
memorable snapshots
Day 8. Koycegiz > Saklikent Gorge >
Fethiye (B)
We depart after breakfast and make our way to the
fantastic Saklikent Gorge, a huge natural crack in the mountain.
Trekking up this gorge is easier said then done but we will take the
challenge anyway! Don't forget your bathers! Afterwards we drive to
our night stop and catch our first glimpse of the Mediterranean.
Day 9. Oludeniz (B)
There are several
options available to you today. Maybe you would like to try
para-gliding from 2000 metres, sailing on a Gulet (Turkish sailing
boat), Scuba diving in the Med., white water rafting on the Dalaman
river, or just relax on Europe's most beautiful beach of 1995.
Day 10. Oludeniz > Kas > Olympos
(B)
A magnificent coastal drive along the Turquoise Coast to
the fishing village of Kas for lunch and then we have an option of
swimming at one of the many natural coves. We arrive at the ancient
village of Olympos late afternoon and stand in awe at our
accommodation site which resembles an Ewok village from Star Wars.
Tonight we have the option of checking out the eternal flames of
Chimaera.
Day 11. Olympos (B & D)
Today is yours
to do as you please. Maybe you would like to jump aboard a fishing
boat, trek through the ancient ruins, climb Mt. Olympos, rest on the
beach, or just sit in your treehouse and catch up on some post
cards.
Day 12. Olympos > Konya > Cappadocia (B
& D)
An early start today sees us head north east for the
surreal landscape of Cappadocia. We stop at Konya for lunch,
Turkey's religious capital, and also see the biggest Caravansaray on
the Anatolian plane. Cappadocia in the afternoon and marvel at this
incredible landscape.
Day 13. Cappadocia (B)
Today we partake in
a fully guided tour of the Cappadocia region, checking out open air
museums, underground cities and pottery displays. Tonight we have
the option of going to a Traditional Turkish Folklore night,
including belly-dancers and traditional folklore dancers...... not
to be missed!
Day 14. Cappadocia > Ankara > Istanbul
(overnight) (B)
Don't forget your hiking boots today, as
we head for Ilhara Valley. A beautiful trek through the natural
gorge as we observe ancient churches from one of the oldest
civilisations ever to have roamed the world. We then head for the
nations capital Ankara where we see the Ancient Civilisations Museum
and Ataturk's Mausoleum. From here we board the trian back to
Istanbul overnight.
Day 15. Istanbul (B)
Our tour finishes
after our on-board breakfast, so the afternoon is yours to do as you
please. Maybe you'd like to take a boat trip up the Bosphorous or
hang out at one of the Prince's Islands. No accommodation is
included on this day.
